Dialed In - Maintaining low grounds retention on your Bentwood pour over grinder.

Our main objective at GH is to source the highest-quality Coffee equipment while providing top-notch support to our customers to keep your grinding and brewing performance best in class. To hold ourselves accountable to those goals we spend a lot of time listening to your needs and helping bring solutions to your equipment pain points. Some of the best insights we develop are born directly out of questions and observations from our customers.

With the introduction of the Bentwood Vertical 63 and 75 as a superior choice for your pour over service, we thought we would highlight a few Frequently Asked Questions about grounds retention on the V63 and V75. Keeping those doses clean, especially when utilizing one grinder for multiple coffees, is a key part of bringing efficiency to your workflow:

Question: How do I clear the spout without a knocker?

Answer: We suggest using a metal cup to tap the back of the spout approximately three times. This will cause the coffee to fall directly into your cup, leaving the spout clean.

Question: How much coffee remains in the grind chamber after completing a dose?

Answer: Due to the tight tolerances of the burrs and the specific design of the grind chamber, there is very little room for retention. You should only find a minimal amount of dust remaining.

Question: How much coffee, on average, is left in the spout?

Answer: When the spout is not cleared using the metal cup method, approximately 2.5 to 3 grams of coffee will remain in the spout when grinding for filter coffee.
